Homerville

Reuben Winston Bruce, Sr., 81, of Homerville passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Riverbrook Nursing Home after an extended illness. He was born in Homerville to the late Reuben Oscar and Emma Strickland Bruce and lived here all of his life. Mr. Bruce was a 1961 graduate of Clinch County High School. He worked for fifty years at B-Way where he served in many different positions most of these years spent leading the production of ammunition boxes for the U.S. military. In 1980, he started beekeeping with a single hive and eventually grew into a sideline occupation. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a founder of the Clinch County Sportsman’s Club. Mr. Bruce repaired lawnmowers and anything with a motor and owned a C.B. Radio repair shop at one time. He collected guns, enjoyed grilling and cooking and overall was a man’s man. Mr. Bruce was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Oscar Eugene Bruce; two sisters, Betty Louise Bruce Snead and Mary Emma Tatum.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-one and a half years, Lottie Lee Bruce of Homerville; one daughter and son-in-law, DeeDee and Carthel Guess of Homerville; one son and daughter-in-law, Ben and Janin Bruce of Homerville; four grandchildren, Carleigh McKinnon (Bryan) of Willacoochee, Ethan Guess (Rebecca), Jenna Lee Bruce of Homerville, and Jake Bruce of Homerville; three great grandchildren, Jed Guess, Bryleigh McKinnon, and Brynne McKinnon; one sister and brother-in-law, Nita and Bill White of Brandon, FL; one brother-in-law, Jim Snead of Summerville, SC; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held Saturday morning, March 15, 2025, at 11 am at Trinity Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Pine Forest Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday morning beginning at 10 am at Trinity Baptist Church.

The family requests the honorary pallbearers to be the Clinch County High School Class of 1961 and the B-Way family and should meet at the church by 10:40 am Saturday for the service.
