Steven Ray Fender, 43, of Fruitland passed away Friday (June 11, 2021) at South Georgia Medical Center after a short illness. He was born in Clinch County and lived in Echols County all of his life. Mr. Fender was a 1997 graduate of Echols County High School and was employed by Southeast Glass Company. He attended Fruitland Church of God and was a member of Indian Bay Hunting Club. Mr. Fender always enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, James C. Carver and Beulah Carver; paternal grandparents, Clifford Fender and Dorothy Fender.
Survivors include one son, Caiden Fender of Fruitland; his parents, Alton and Brenda Kay Carver Fender of Fruitland; two sisters, Stacy Nichols of Waycross, and Marti Claunch of Alabama; two brothers, Alton Fender of Lake Park, GA, and Alton “Joey” Fender of Florida; nieces and nephews, Cody Fender, Harley Fender, Steven Dalton Fender, Dakota Fowler, Breanna Fender, Madison Pearce, and Carris Fender.
A graveside service will be held Monday morning at 11 am at Wayfare Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 until 8 pm at the funeral home.
