Sarah Merle Williams Harper, 88, of Homerville passed away Monday morning, January 25, 2021, at her home following an extended illness. Sarah was born July 14, 1932, in Clinch County, GA to the late Noah C. Williams and Rhoda Amanda Lee Williams. While extended family members and close friends knew her as Sadie, she was affectionately known to her immediate family as “SI”. The nickname “SI” came from her oldest grandson, Charles Dial, who created it as a toddler. She loved her family and always enjoyed their family gatherings. Sarah was a graduate of Clinch County High School, where she played basketball. In 1952, she married Benjamin Breedlove Harper, her late husband. They lived in Jacksonville, Florida until the 70’s. Returning to Clinch County, they purchased and operated both The Frosty Drive-In in Homerville and Arti C’s Restaurant in Fargo. After his death, she worked at The Georgia Baptist Children’s Home in Meansville. After 11 years she retired on February 3, 2007 and returned to Homerville. Sarah was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church. She loved her church, Brother Austin Deloach, and her church family. She was preceded in death by her brothers: Britt Williams and Frank Williams, a sister-in-law: Ann Williams Holtzclaw, a brother-in-law: Dutch Harper and nephews, Mark Keithly Harper and Timothy Lee Williams. Survivors are a sister: Mary Ruth Harper, Homerville; two daughters: Mary H. (Ray) Bennett and Amanda H. (Charlie) Dial, all of Homerville; grandsons and spouses: Charles E. (Amy) Dial, Jr., Homerville, Thomas F. (Kandace) Dial, Alma, D. Britt (McKenzie) Doran, Lake Park; great grandchildren: Benjamin And Sarah Katelee Dial, Alma, Madison Grace Dial, Homerville, nephews and spouses: Myron (Becky) Harper, Matt (Vicky) Harper, all of Valdosta, Randy (Pam) Williams, Mike (Iris) Harper, Will (Amy) Williams all of Homerville, Ben Harper, Bruce (Danita) Harper, Burton (Melodie) Harper, all of Macon; brother-in-law: John Duncan Harper, Eatonton; cousin: Lucy Manley, Homerville and numerous other relatives and friends. Graveside services for Mrs. Sarah will be held, Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at eleven o’clock in the Arabia Church Cemetery.
