Rudolph Candler Register

Mr. Rudolph Candler Register, 91, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2020, in the Clinch Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, following a short illness. Mr. Register was born, January 12 1929, in Clinch County to the late Rudolph Register and Mae Inman Register. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War from 1950 - 1952. During that time, he served briefly at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Later, he was stationed at Camp Gordon, Georgia, Camp Macball, North Carolina, and Fort Beivoir, Virginia. He was attached to the 314th Signal Construction Battalion, which later became the 578th Signal Construction Company. His title was Lineman and Lineman Truck Driver. His rating was CPL. Immediately following discharge; he joined the staff at The Clinch County News where he worked for 42 years. He also served three years in the U. S. Air Force Reserve while working at The News, being honorably discharged from both branches of military. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Margaret Register and Athleen Findley and one brother: Harris Register, Sr. Survivors are his wife: Lorean Cowart Register; four sons and daughters-in-law: Tim & Janice Register, Randy & Martha Register, Dennis & Gayle Register, and Dan & Paige Register, all of Homerville; one brother and sister-in-law: Billy & Vernice Register, Homerville; nine grandchildren: Jeff & Emily Register, Jeremy & Alicia Register, Maranda & Jonathan Leiupo, Mollie & Michael Barnes, Derek & Kellie Register, Laura & Joe Dittmer, Anna Register, Trent Register and Blaire Register; sixteen great grandchildren ; a number of nieces, nephews and of other relatives. Funeral services for Mr. Register will be held Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2020 at eleven o’clock at the First Baptist Church, Homerville. Interment will be in the Pine Forest Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, February 24, 2020 from six till eight p.m. at the First Baptist Church.
