Roy Hampton Strickland

We are sad to announce the passing of Roy Hampton Strickland, 56, of Homerville. Roy left this world peacefully on January 16, 2024, in Picayune, MS, doing one of the things he loved- driving a truck.

Mr. Strickland was born to the late Vivian Strickland Booth and the late Morris Layton (Marty) Strickland on October 25, 1967. His maternal grandparents were the late Cody and Bessie Henderson; his paternal grandparents were the late Roy & Mary Ann Strickland, both of Homerville, GA. He is also preceded in death by his nephews, Brance Register and Brant Lloyd.

He was born and raised in Homerville and was a Clinch County High School graduate. He worked many years in Homerville, including jobs with Litho and Lee Container, where he met many new faces and friends. He later went on to pursue his CDLs from Coastal Pines Technical College, where he then obtained a job driving a transport truck with Mahant Transportation.

Roy had a big, tender, and warm heart and would help anyone if he could. During free time, Roy enjoyed spending time with his family and hanging out with his lifelong friends. He always enjoyed watching a good game of football, especially the Clinch County Panthers and the Georgia Bulldogs. 

He leaves behind three sisters: Melissa & Paul Morgan of Manor, Lori & Brad Register of Homerville, & Leslie & Brian Lloyd of Hilliard, FL. He had several nieces and nephews that he loved dearly: Kyle Morgan (Brodie Flowers), Ansley Morgan (Will Suggs), Brennen Register (Jalen Miller), Brady Register, Chandler Mcgee, & Brody Lloyd, along with several great nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday morning, January 23, 2024, at 11 am at Cornerstone Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Pine Forest Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday morning from 10 until 11 am at the church.
