Rita Elizabeth Newbern Brantley, 59, of Homerville passed away Monday evening (September 13, 2021) at South Georgia Medical Center after a short illness. She was born January 23, 1962, in Homerville and lived here all of her life. Mrs. Brantley worked at Jimbo’s Log Kitchen for many years. She always enjoyed spending time with her family and special friends, and especially loved helping others and touching many lives with her laughter.
She was preceded in death by her father, Reavis Newbern.
Survivors include her daughter, Michelle Newbern of Homerville; her mother, Evelyn Stephens of Homerville; five grandchildren, Heather Farmer, Chad Adams, Megan Adams, Summer Adams, Hannah Lee Corbitt; fifteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Reavis “Buddy” Newbern of Homerville, and Edwin “Pewee” Newbern and his wife Darlene of Homerville; two sisters, Charlotte “Chachi” Thomas and her husband Roger of Manor, Tammy Blanton and her husband Frank of Valdosta; her stepmother, Barbara Newbern of Valdosta; several nieces and one nephew.
A graveside service will be held Friday morning at 10 am at Lang Cemetery.
The family will receive friends beginning at 9:30 Friday morning at the cemetery.
