Rita Roberts Bass, 59, passed away Sunday (August 22, 2021) in the UF Health Shands Hospital. Gainesville, FL, following a short illness. She was born in Homerville to the late Frank and Naomi Tiner Roberts. She was a homemaker, she loved baking for her family and others, loved shopping, dirt track racing, dogs and never met a stranger. While in Homerville she attended the Place of Blessings Church of God in Argyle and the Mt. Zion Church when in Chiefland. When Mrs. Bass said she loved you she meant it with her whole heart.
Along with her parents she is preceded in death by a brother: Keith Roberts; and a brother-in-law: David DeWees.
Survivors include her husband: James Bass, Chiefland, FL; one daughter and son-in-law: Rebecca and George (Zack) Martin, Chiefland, FL; two sons and daughters-in-law: Christopher (C.J.) and Sherri Bass, Chiefland, FL and Joseph and Cindy Bass, Old Town, FL; three sisters and brothers-in-law: Ruth and Dolphus Stalvey, Homerville, Denise DeWees, Chiefland, FL, and Betrinda and Wayne Metts, Monticello, FL; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Frank and Wanda Roberts, Jr., Ft. White, FL and Sean and Jesse Roberts, Lakeland, GA; seven grandchildren: Elizabeth Grace Martin, Skylar Martin, Nathanael (Nate) Bass, Molly Bass, Christopher (Kaleb) Bass, Candice Bass and Courtney Bass; a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bass will be held Friday (August 27, 2021) at eleven o’clock at the Place of Blessings Church of God in Argyle. Burial will be in the Camp Branch Providence Cemetery, Manor.
The family will receive friends at the church Friday morning from 10 till 11 a.m.
The family ask that those in attendance please wear a mask.
