Rev. Artis Lee Smith

Rev. Artis Lee Smith, 66, passed away Monday, December 16, 2019, following an extended illness.   Rev. Smith was born September 2, 1953, in Homerville, GA, to the late Rev. Dolphus P. Smith, Jr. and Phyllis Napier Smith. He worked as a car salesman and was a veteran of the U.S. Army and helped establish a Church of God of Prophecy in Germany while serving there. He pastored several churches in this area including, North Valdosta Church of God and Lakeland Church of God. He was preceded in death by a brother: Rex Smith, father and mother-in-law: S.T. & Rusha Douglas; and sister-in-law: Kareen Bennett.   Survivors are his wife: Cynthia Douglas Smith, Homerville; three daughters and sons-in-law: Monica & Will Joyce and Rebekah & Rance Morgan, both of Homerville and Tisha & James Markham. Amarillo, TX; two sons and daughters-in-law: Ryan & Kayla Smith, Homerville and Jacob & Danielle Smith, Newnan, GA ; one sister: Karen Smith, Homerville; one brother and sister-in-law: Clark & Irina Smith, Sulphur Springs, TX; eight grandchildren: Mica Joyce,  Jamee “JJ” Joyce, Tread Morgan, Estee Morgan, Liam Smith, A.J. Stamps, Tyrel Stamps and Adelia Stamps; a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.   Funeral services for Rev. Smith will be held Thursday, December 19, 2019 at eleven o’clock at the New Vision Church of God. Interment will be in the Pine Forest Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 18, 2019 from six till eight p.m. at the funeral home. Sympathy maybe expressed by signing the online registry at www.roundtreefuneralhome.net.
