Pauline Strickland Smith, 87, of Lake Park passed away Sunday evening, January 29, 2023, at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House after an extended illness. She was born in Willacoochee to the late Lloyd J. and Mary Jane Metts Strickland. Mrs. Smith worked for King Edward Cigar for forty-four years and worked for Lee Container for fourteen years. She attended Statenville United Methodist Church and recently attended Remnant Church in Waycross. Mrs. Smith loved shopping, yard sales, making ceramics, and collecting antiques.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Calvin Smith.
Survivors include four sons, Wendell Smith and his wife Sheilah of Waycross, James Smith and his wife Penny of Blackshear, Randy Smith and his wife Hope of Weatherford, TX, and Clay Smith and his wife Karol of Ft. Worth, TX; ten grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; four sisters, Evelyn Sapp of Waycross, Lorine Smith and her husband Gerald of Homerville, Florine Weeks and her husband James of Erbro, FL, and Carol Burke and her husband Johnny of Philadelphia, MS; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held Thursday afternoon, February 2, 2023, at 1 pm at the Roundtree Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Wayfare Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 pm at the funeral home.
