Mitchell “Micky" Lane, 72, of Homerville passed away Tuesday evening, February 28, 2023, at South Georgia Medical Center after a sudden illness. He was born in Charlton County to the late Charlie Otis and Pencie Lee Smith Lane. Mr. Lane was a 1972 graduate of Clinch County High School and lived here most of his life. He retired from the Clinch County Training Center as a Detail Supervisor. Mr. Lane was a member of Shiloh Church and enjoyed hunting arrowheads. He was a collector of many things, including coins, guns, and knives. He always enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Melvin Lane.
Survivors include his wife of fifty years, Joyce Brown Lane; two children, Connie Cox and her husband Jimbo of Guyton, GA and Lee Lane and his wife Karla of Argyle; seven grandchildren, Dustin Cox, Kailey Cox, and Braydon Cox all of Guyton, GA, Devin Lane and his fiancé Ashley of Thomasville, Candace Lane and her husband Tariq of Fayetteville, NC, Kathryn Bennett, Trey Bennett, and Kylee Bennett all of Argyle; three sisters, Linda Ewing of St. Mary’s, GA, Carolyn Lane of Homerville, and Margaret Barber of Valdosta; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held Friday morning, March 3, 2023, at 11 am at New Vision Church of God. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 until 8 pm at the funeral home.
