Merle Howling McCoy, 79, of Homerville passed away Tuesday afternoon, January 28, 2025 at Hospice Satilla House in Waycross, GA after an extended illness. She was born in Homerville to the late Archie and Leither Howling. Mrs. McCoy lived in Homerville her whole life. She was a homemaker and a full-time grandmother. As a young adult, she worked for the Georgia Forestry Commission as a fire spotter. Other than sitting on her front porch, watching the hummingbirds, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed all of her grand, great grand, and great great grandkids; they all held a special place in her heart.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Leither Howling and one brother, Raymond Archie Howling.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 60 years, Willard “Paul” McCoy; two daughters, Paula Walker of Homerville, Crystal McCoy and her two daughters, Laci McCoy her two kids Caliecia and Junior and daughter Fynlee Hertzog all of Homerville; two sons, Mark McCoy of High Springs, FL, his two kids, Kimberly McCoy of High Springs, FL, Marcus (Jessica) McCoy two kids, Colton and Cara of Lake City, FL, Mikey (Shannon) McCoy their three kids, Mikah, Cason, and Griffin of Fort White, FL.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening, January 30, 2025, from 6 pm until 8 pm at Roundtree Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held Friday morning, January 31, 2025, at 11 am at Shiloh Cemetery in Homerville.
