Marion Keyser Bateson, 87, of Homerville died early Monday morning (May 18, 2020) at her son’s residence after an extended illness. She was born in New York, NY to the late Leslie and Adelle Van Geison Keyser. She married Richard Henry Bateson, Sr. in 1953. The couple moved to Homerville in 1957 with Standard Container. Mrs. Bateson was a Nurse and worked for Dr. Greer in Homerville for many years and retired in 1997 as a caseworker for Loving Care Training Center. She was a member of Homerville United Methodist Church, the Mary Claire Circle and served as Treasurer for many years and enjoyed participating in all activities at the church. Mrs. Bateson was an avid Atlanta Braves and Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed watching them every day. Affectionately called “Nana” by her family and many friends in the community she loved having anyone over throughout the years to spend time together by the pool. Most of all since her retirement she loved spoiling her great grandchildren with whatever she could provide them. She also looked forward to her Tuesday “go to town days” with Ms. Carolyn Leviton and Dairy Queen treats with Ms. Eva Lee Dickerson in the afternoons.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Henry Bateson, Sr. and her sister, Carolyn Burtchaell.
