Marie Harris Hiers

Marie Harris Hiers, 71, of Homerville passed away Tuesday morning (April 19, 2022) at Clinch Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness. She was born in Lowndes County to the late Russell and Eula Lee Register Harris and lived in Atlanta most of her life before moving to Douglas in 2007 and then to Homerville in 2013. Ms. Hiers attended New Vision Church of God. She always enjoyed reading her bible, eating hard candy, going for rides, looking at Christmas lights and especially eating fish sandwiches. The only thing she loved more than her family was her Savior Jesus.

Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth Weldy (husband David) of Panama City, FL, and Jennifer Smith (husband Barry) of Homerville; two sons, Tommy Hiers, Jr. (wife Cheyenne) of San Diego, CA, and Chris Hiers of Locust Grove, GA; seven grandchildren, Andrew Weldy (wife Ashley), Hannah Miles (husband Daniel), Charlotte Smith, Edith Smith, Maria Goggins, Alexx Goggins, and Darya Goggins; two sisters, Janett Correll of North Carolina and Geraldine Turnage of Foxworth, MS; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held Saturday morning at 11 am at New Vision Church of God. Burial will follow in Pine Forest Cemetery.

The family will receive friends beginning at 10 at the church.
