Peg Blitch served her community and state as a true public servant, even when she was not in office. Peg was judge of the Clinch County Probate Court from 1976 to 1980. In 1991 she served one term in the Georgia House of Representatives. In 1992 she began her work in the Senate, where she served for twelve years. She worked closely with Valdosta State University, trying to get it's university status and critically aiding in its growth. Recognizing that teachers were underpaid, she and her fellow legislators successfully obtained significant pay raises for educators. She then served one term as Mayor of Homerville in 2010. Peg served in all three branches of government.

Her greatest legacy is that of love, generosity, and friendship. She made everyone around her feel special! In her free time she enjoyed traveling, sun bathing, and reading before bed. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and she never missed an episode of Jeopardy. She enjoyed eating quail dinners at Jimbo’s and grilled shrimp at Hoagies. She kept a stash of candy with her at all times, that’s why she was always so sweet.  She extended unconditional love to all who knew her and will be remembered best as a wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
