Lorine S. Smith, 80, of Homerville passed away Monday morning, December 30, 2024, at her residence after an extended illness. She was born in Willacoochee, GA to the late Lloyd and Mary Jane Metts Strickland. Mrs. Smith graduated from Vernon High School in Vernon, FL and lived in Homerville most of her life. She worked at King Edward Cigar in Waycross for fifteen years and retired from the Clinch County School System as the cafeteria manager after many years of service. Mrs. Smith always enjoyed shopping and especially spending time with her family.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by one son, Greg Smith; and one sister, Pauline Smith.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Gerald Smith of Homerville; one daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Mike Hayes of Homerville; one daughter-in-law, Lori D. Smith of Homerville; four grandchildren, Jennifer Murray (husband Trey) of Homerville, Mary Margaret Slusher (husband Alex) of Homerville, Marisa Hayes of Homerville, and Zeke Smith of Statesboro; one great-grandchild, Bruce Murray, and one on the way that is due in March; three sisters, Evelyn Sapp of Waycross, twin sister, Florine Weeks (husband James) of Ebro, FL, and Carol Burkes of Philadelphia, MS; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A graveside service will be held Thursday afternoon, January 2, 2025, at 4 pm at Shiloh Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:30 pm until 3:30 pm Thursday afternoon at Roundtree Funeral Home.
