Laura Griffis Maine

Mrs. Laura Griffis Maine, 101, passed away Thursday, July 16, 2020, at the Lake Haven Nursing Home, Valdosta, GA, following an extended illness. Mrs. Maine was born July 3, 1919, in Homerville, GA to the late Sewerd Griffis and Vera Futch Griffis. She was retired from Brockway Standard and was a member of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 76 years, James Solomon “J. S.” Maine, one son: James “Jake” Woodrow Maine; three sisters: Susie Griffis McCaine, Nell Griffis Peach and Sarah Griffis Pittman; three brothers: Marvin Leroy Griffis, Robert Mitchell Griffis and Gus Griffis. Survivors are one daughter-in-law: Lynn Maine, Valdosta; three granddaughters: Kim (Ken) Corbett, Lake Park, Laurie (Jonathan) Hancock, Valdosta and Jennifer (Travis) Dees, Lake Park; six great grandchildren: Justin (Brandi) Corbett, Jessica (Eric) Bolesta, Jared Corbett, all of Lake Park, Garrett Hancock, Valdosta, Jake Dees and John Parker Dees, all of Lake Park; six great great granddaughters, a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. A private graveside service will be held. Interment will be in the Pine Forest Cemetery. Sympathy maybe expressed by signing the online registry at www.roundtreefuneralhome.net.
