Joseph Andrews Mercer, 65, of Manor passed away Thursday, January 11, 2024, after a sudden illness. He was born in Lake City, FL to the late Noah and Edna Steedley Mercer and grew up in Edith near Fargo and lived in Manor for the last thirty-four years. Mr. Mercer worked at Kroger in Waycross for twenty-two years and retired in May 2023. He was currently working for the City of Homerville Water Department. Mr. Mercer attended Place of Blessings Church of God. In the 1970’s he was a tour guide in the Okefenokee Swamp and always loved to fish and watch the Dallas Cowboys.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Sue Booth Mercer; two brothers, Alan Mercer and Elden Mercer.
Survivors include two children, Jennifer Mercer Inman and her husband Brad of Manor, and Justin Mercer and his wife Carey Dawn of Waycross; two grandchildren, Jonathan Inman and Isabella Inman; one brother, Troy Mercer (Ruby) of Waycross; nieces and nephews, Tony Spence (Lora) of Douglasville, GA, Jessie Moore (Matthew) of Waycross, Kylie Henderson (Freddie) of Waycross, Wendy Mercer of Waycross, Michael Mercer (Carolyn) of Nicholls, Alan Mercer (Tracy) of Waycross, and Rebecca Geuea of Homerville; great nieces and nephews, Charlie, Cassidy, Brantley, Jada, Kinsley, Kylee, and Adrian; and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held Sunday afternoon, January 14, 2024, at 3 pm at Place of Blessings Church of God in Argyle. A private family burial will be held at Camp Branch Church of God of Prophecy Cemetery in Manor.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 until 8 pm at Place of Blessings Church of God in Argyle.
