Johnny Oscar Newbern

Johnny Oscar Newbern, 63, of Homerville passed away Friday, October 14, 2022, at his residence after a short illness. He was born in Valdosta to the late Oscar Leo Newbern and Verdie Mae Herrin Davis. Mr. Newbern lived in Homerville most of his life and was a truck driver for Leo Bagley Trucking. He always enjoyed fishing and especially spending time with his grandchildren.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lee Bagley Newbern; three sisters, Dorothy “Dottie” Marie Bagley, Denise Hill, and Debra Newbern; daughter-in-law, Amanda Lynn Reliford Newbern.

Survivors include one son, Johnny Eugene Newbern of Homerville; four grandchildren, Joshua Aaron Newbern, Kurt Andrew Newbern, Johnny Lee Newbern, and Emalee Rose Newbern; one sister, Darlene Newbern (Michael Palmer) of Homerville; one brother, Albert Davis, Jr. (Rosamary) of Homerville; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday afternoon, October 19, 2022, at 2 pm at Pine Forest Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 1:45 pm at the funeral home.
