Homerville, GA Mr. Jimmy Clayton McLaney, 68, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at Clinch Memorial Hospital, Homerville, Georgia, following an extended illness. Mr, McLaney was born September 9, 1949, in Ware County, Waycross, Georgia, to the late Willie Clay McLaney and Myrtice Dixon McLaney. Mr. McLaney was self-employed as a Forester and own and operated J&B Forest Services, Inc. Mr. McLaney was a member of The First Baptist Church of Homerville, Georgia where he served as Chairman of Brotherhood, Deacon and in other capacities. Mr. McLaney lived his life as a servant to God and enjoyed helping others in any way possible. He loved his church family and all his fellow man. Surviors are his wife: Betty McLaney, one daughter, Victoria McLaney Steedley Homerville, GA; one son, Dr. William McLaney, Atlanta, Georgia; two grandchildren, Allyssa Steedley and Bailey Steedley, Homerville, Georgia; special cousins, Sandra Fort, Waycross, Georgia, Benny Hodges, Blackshear, Georgia and Cindy Barber, Waycross, Georgia; special friends: Bill Murray, Homerville, Georgia and George Jackson, Macon, Georgia. Funeral Services for Mr. McLaney will be held Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Homerville, Georgia. The family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church one hour prior to the service.
