Mr. James Barney Pittman, Sr., 75, passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2018, at his residence, following an extended illness. Mr. Pittman was born March 25, 1943, in Homerville, GA to the late Samuel Floyd Pittman and Viola Howling Pittman. He had worked for the Clinch County Maintenance Department as a mechanic and was a member of the Place of Blessings Church of God. He was preceded in death by his wife: Sophronia Johnson Pittman; five brothers: Samuel Pittman, Ira Pittman, Eddie Pittman, Elmer Pittman and Henry Pittman. Survivors are one daughter and son-in-law: Lisa & Marty Browning, Argyle; three sons and a daughter-in-law: James Barney Pittman, Jr., Argyle, John Paul Pittman and fiancé Pam Douglas, Homerville and David Allen & Shelby Pittman, Fort White, FL: one sister: Thelma Miller, Kentucky; eleven grandchildren: Chris Pittman, Jessica & Seth Hayes, Heather & Justin Roe, Deonna Pittman, Ivan Pittman, Courtney & Ben Aldridge, Haley & Jonathan Hughes, Sarah & Chris Rowe, Savannah & Rusty Wilson, David Pittman, Jr and Clayton Pittman: four step-grandchildren: Wendy Browning, Jessica Browning, Alexis Browning and Rena Browning; thirteen great grandchildren: Chance Daniels, Chandlor Daniels, Gavin Hays, Jordan Lolley, Brandon Pittman, Gavin Roe, Taylor Delk, Jacob Reliford, Caroline Lynn Pittman, Gracie Browning, Marissa Thomas, Maycie Perez, Sydley Davis, Hugh Davis and Ethan Walton: a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services for Mr. Pittman will be held Saturday, December 15, 2018 at two o’clock at the Place of Blessings Church of God. Interment will be in the Pine Forest Cemetery.
