Mr. James Marvin Chauncey passed away at 73 years old Friday night (May 7, 2021) at his home at Chauncey Road in Echols County, GA. He was born in Homerville, GA to the late Martin and Minnie Rose Cribbs Chauncey and lived in Fruitland most of his life. He was a graduate of Echols County High School. Mr. Chauncey retired from Chauncey Glass after fifty-four years of service as a Glazier. He was a member of Fruitland Church of God, always enjoyed fishing, cooking, helping people, and especially enjoyed taking long drives.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Dolly Mae Melton, Beulah Carver, and Minnie Lee Manac; three brothers, Martin Chauncey, Jr., Dud “D.C.” Chauncey, and Isom Chauncey; one granddaughter, Iceiyauna Williams.
Mr. Chauncey is survived by his wife Mrs. Andrea Marie Chauncey, first wife, Mildred Chauncey; biological children, Brian Chauncey and Pamela Chauncey; step-son Robert Johnson; step-daughters, Phantaegia Johnson, Marcella Francois; five step grandchildren, Tafari, Chynel, Kentrell, Channelle, and Jani; one brother, Johnny Chauncey; two sisters, Freddie Lou Register and Roslyn Burks; dear friend, Lincoln Simmonds; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives including the Carvers, Manac’s, Melton’s, Registers, and the Chauncey’s.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 11 am at Fruitland Church of God. Burial will follow in the Wayfare Cemetery.
The family will receive friends beginning at 10 am Saturday at Fruitland Church of God.
