Mrs. Frances Iris Steedley Smith, 81, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2019, in the River Brook HealthCare, Homerville, following an extended illness. Mrs. Smith was born March 25, 1938, in Waycross, GA to the late Jessie James Steedley and Edna Fullwood Steedley. She had worked at Clinch Memorial Hospital for 17 years, before becoming a bus driver for the Clinch County Board of Education for 20 years. The children called her Miss Ninja Turtle. She was a member of the Homerville Congregational Methodist Church. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Ehrlee Smith, Sr., five sisters: Dartha Guess, Lola Mae Lee, Juanelle Mattox, Sarah Dorman and Geraldine Chatman; two brothers: James Earl Steedley and Ransom Steedley and a brother-in-law: McArthur Smith. Survivors are one daughter: Patti (Allen) Herrin; one son: Ehrlee “Buddi” Smith, Jr., both of Homerville; two sisters: Janice (Elroy) Douglas and Robbin Steedley-Jewell, all of Homerville; two sisters-in-law: Gloria (Frank) Wilcox, West Point, GA and Tammis Steedley, Homerville; one brother: Jessie Revis (Debbie) Steedley, Homerville; special friend: Herb Wheeler, Homerville, special friend and caregiver: Sandra Kinlaw; three grandchildren: Alisa (Rick) Huggins, Mayday, Heidi (John) Strickland, Homerville and Morgan Herrin, Lake Park; five great grandchildren: Austin Huggins, John Allen Huggins, Charlee Grace Huggins, Hudson Huggins and Allenee Strickland; one great great grandchild: Kotten Huggins; a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be held Friday, June 28, 2019 at eleven o’clock at the Homerville Congregational Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Pine Forest Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 27, 2019, from 6 till 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Sympathy maybe expressed by signing the online registry at www.roundtreefuneralhome.net.
