Herman M Corbitt

Mr. Herman M. Corbitt, 90, passed away Friday, June 2, 2023 in The Pavilion at the Medical Center of Central, Georgia, Macon, following a short illness.

Mr. Corbitt was born March 13, 1933 in Homerville, GA, to the late Jim Corbitt and Belle Steedley Corbitt. He was owner/operator of Corbitt’s Paint and Body Shop for many years. He attended the New Pine Grove Church and loved fishing, horses and telling stories. He was a former Clinch County Commissioner.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary Jane Bennett Corbitt, and ten brothers and sisters.

Survivors are four daughters: Betty Dean (Shad), Lake Park, GA, Shirley Teston (Eddie), Homerville, Mary Lynn Bennett, Leesburg, FL and Linda Peterson, Eatonton, GA;  seven sons: Jerry Corbitt (Sadie), Kenny Corbitt, Ricky Corbitt (Angie), all of Homerville, Michael Corbitt, Florida, Scotty Corbitt (Tina) Brunswick, GA, Jimmy Gaskins (Charlotte), Homerville, and Robert Gaskins (Denise), Douglas, thirty-one grandchildren, thirty-four great grandchildren, twelve great-great grandchildren; one sister: Ira Bell Tiner (Harold), Homerville, and several other relatives.

Funeral services for Mr. Corbitt will be held, Monday, June 5, 2023 at eleven o’clock in the Trinity Baptist Church. Burial will be in the North Cemetery, DuPont.

The family will receive friends Sunday, June 4, 2023 from 6 till 8 pm at the funeral home.
