Elmaree H. Nelms

Elmaree Hillhouse Gunter Nelms, 74, of Homerville passed away Thursday morning, January 12, 2023, at Langdale Hospice House after a short illness. She was born in Clinch County to the late Claude and Esther Holmes Hillhouse. Mrs. Nelms was a graduate of Clinch County High School and was a member of New Vision Church of God. She was retired from Brockway as a Machine Operator after more than 30 years of service.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Emory Gunter and an infant son, Gordon Gunter.

Survivors include two daughters, Abby Gunter of Warner Robins, Ann McDonald of Homerville; two sons, Jesse Gunter of Lexington, KY, and Joshua Gunter (wife Samantha) of Griffin; eight grandchildren, Justin McDonald, Molly Joe Gunter, Baily Ree Gunter, Robert Gunter, Elaina Gunter, Maddie Gunter, Ashton Gunter, and Zachery Gunter; one sister, Bonnie Kay Evans of Homerville; two brothers, Johnny Hillhouse of Homerville and Raymond Hillhouse of Homerville; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held Monday morning, January 16, 2023, at 11 am at New Vision Church of God. Burial will follow in Pine Forest Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 until 8 pm at the funeral home.
