Dorothy Back

Dorothy Lee Griffis Back, 59, of Homerville passed away Monday evening, May 23, 2022, at St. Joseph’s Candler Hospital in Savannah after a short illness. She was born in West Melbourne, FL to the late Nolan and Carlene Johnson Griffis. Mrs. Back worked many years at Harvey’s in Homerville in the deli. She always loved yard sales, fishing, riding four wheelers, puzzles, going to the beach, and especially collecting dream catchers. Mrs. Back was a loving mother to her children, grandchildren, and family.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Frank Thomas, a sister-in-law, Jeri Back.

Survivors include her husband, David Back of Homerville; two sons, Dallas McManus of Homerville and Jeff Grabowski of Homerville; three grandchildren, Hazen Grabowski, Malaya Monae McManus, and Harley Browning; four sisters, Betty Thomas of Homerville, Patricia McCraw of Homerville, Barbara Delk of Homerville, and Linda Dubose of Hamilton, AL; mother-in-law, Sharon Back of Homerville; brother-in-law, Richard Back of Homerville; a niece and nephew that grew up with Mrs. Back, Elizabeth Henderson (husband Carl) of Homerville, Franklin Thomas (wife April) of Homerville; several other nieces, nephews, and friends.

A memorial service will be held Saturday morning, May 28, 2022, at 11 am at the Roundtree Funeral Home Chapel.

Memorialization will be by cremation.
