Clennie Griffis Shell, 88, of Homerville passed away Thursday, February 4, 2021, at her residence after an extended illness. She was born in Echols County, GA to the late George and Moses Pittman Griffis. Mrs. Shell lived in Homerville most of her life where she worked at Brockway Standard as a Machine Operator and retired as a Quality Inspector. She was proud to be the first person to retire with 40 years of service. Mrs. Shell was a member of the Eastern Star and of the Church of God faith.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Carl Hubert Shell; one brother, Carraway Griffis; son-in-law, A.J. Herrin.
Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Herrin of Homerville; one son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Connie Shell of Homerville; one sister, Emma Lee Cribbs of Hilliard, FL; one brother and sister-in-law, Hollaway and Linda Griffis of Homerville; four grandchildren, Dennis Hendley (Ellen) of Valdosta, Jerome Herrin of Homerville, Stacey Shell of Florida, and Jeannie Shell of Florida; eight great-grandchildren, Brent Hendley, Eric Hendley, Sammie Folarin, Alex Folarin, Eliza Touchton, Ashton Herrin, A.J. Herrin, and Gannon Herrin; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A graveside service will be held Monday afternoon at 2 pm at Pine Forest Cemetery.
