Chester Glenn Stalvey, Sr., 79, of Homerville passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at Clinch Memorial Hospital peacefully surrounded by loving family. He was born in Fargo, GA to the late Johnnie Mathew and Lillie Cribbs Stalvey and lived in Clinch County all of his life and known by “Poppie”. Chester worked at Brockway for over forty years. Even in his last days he continued to work and drive his forklift, in his state of mind. In the midnight hours we would hear “Beep Beep”!
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Verena Moody; two brothers, Leslie Stalvey and Norman Stalvey.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Helen “Nannie” Gilbert Stalvey of Homerville; one daughter, Vicky Steedley (Junebug) of Homerville; one son, Chet Stalvey, Jr. (Crystal) of Homerville; two granddaughters, Dana Reliford (Michael) of Panama City, FL, and Kayla Scott (Phillip) of Waycross; two grandsons, Dalton Wilson of Texas and Brandon Rowe of Homerville; nine great grandchildren, Hunter Reliford, Hayden Herrin, Levi Reliford, Brance Reliford, Zane Hewett, Parker Stalvey, Ian Reliford, Zoey White, and Lilly Scott; one sister, Sylvia Stalvey Burnham of Live Oak, FL; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am Friday morning, June 3, 2022, at Place of Blessings Church of God. Burial will follow in Pine Forest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends beginning at 10 am Friday morning at the church.
