Carolyn Westmoreland Rice

March 9, 1946 — August 18, 2020

Carolyn Sue Westmoreland Rice, 74, of Dupont passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at her residence surrounded by family after an extended illness. She was born in Copperhill, TN to the late Edward and Mamie Ferguson Westmoreland. Mrs. Rice lived in Dupont most of her life. She was a devoted member of Cornerstone Baptist Church and dearly loved her Senior Sunday School Class. Mrs. Rice always had a kind word and never met a stranger. She was very creative and enjoyed sewing and baking. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Carolyn treasured her family and took great joy in spending time with them, especially her grandchildren. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Jake Westmoreland, Charles Westmoreland, and John Westmoreland. Survivors include her husband , Billy Richard Rice, Sr. of Dupont; three children, Debbie Strickland (Mike) of Homerville, Donna Culbreth (Lex) of Valdosta, Billy Rice (Dawn) of Homerville; seven grandchildren, Brice Denmark (Jennifer) of Thomasville, GA, Brett Denmark (Paige) and Taylor Denmark (Kyra) of Homerville, Mills Culbreth and Max Culbreth of Valdosta, Payton Rice and Channing Rice of Homerville; seven great-grandchildren, Tate, Brickson, Kayden, Dax, Anniston, Parker, and Dane Denmark; one sister, Marilyn Smith of Lake Park, GA; two brothers, Leroy Westmoreland of Valdosta, Kenneth Westmoreland, Sr. (Donna) of Cartersville, GA; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. The family would like to thank Bethany Hospice and Palliative Care of South Georgia for their compassionate care of Mrs. Rice over the past year and especially would like to thank Marie Carter for her constant care and devotion. A funeral service will be held Saturday morning, August 22, 2020, at 11 am Cornerstone Baptist Church. Burial will follow in North Cemetery in Dupont. The family will receive friends Saturday morning beginning at 10 am at the church.
