Carlton L. Stalvey

Carlton Lavern Stalvey, 74, of Homerville passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2021, in Homerville from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born in Clinch County to the late Harold and Alberta Allen Stalvey and lived here all of his life. Mr. Stalvey was retired from GATX in Waycross as a Coil and Valve Mechanic after many years of service. He was a member of Camp Creek Baptist Church and always enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Stalvey; three brothers, E.W. Stalvey, Elzia Stalvey, and Charles L. Stalvey.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Ruthell Smith Stalvey; four children, Terry Smith, Dewayne Stalvey (wife Gina), Loraine Burkhalter (husband Joseph), Jeffrey Stalvey all of Homerville; seven grandchildren, Dustin Stalvey (wife Liza), Jennifer Stalvey, Jessica Tucker (husband Cory), Ethan Burkhalter (wife Chasity), Gracelee Stalvey, Jesslyn Stalvey, and Thaddaeus Stalvey all of Homerville; six great-grandchildren, Willa Cate, Eason, Briston, Haddock, Bexleigh, and Caylor; two sisters, Carolyn Gibbs of Homerville, Lawanna Tootle (husband Eddie) of Waycross; four brothers, James Stalvey (wife Lillie Beth) of Dupont, Julian Stalvey (wife Rena) of Glennville, Rev. Donald Stalvey (wife Barbara) of Homerville, Dolphus Stalvey (Ruth) of Homerville; numerous nieces nephews and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held Friday afternoon at 2 pm at Lighthouse Assembly of God. Burial will follow in Pine Forest Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 – 8 pm at Lighthouse Assembly of God.
