William Jasper “Billy” Register, 86, of Homerville passed away Tuesday evening (June 22, 2021) at Clinch Memorial Hospital after a short illness. He was born in Clinch County to the late Rudolph and Mae Inman Register. Mr. Register graduated from Clinch County High School and lived here all of his life. He was a Woodyard Foreman for Union Camp Corporation for many years and retired from Liberty National Life Insurance Company as a salesman after many years of service. After retirement, he worked with Roundtree Funeral Home for twenty one years. Mr. Register loved animals and also playing music on his guitar. He was a member of Dupont Baptist Church.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Laverne Ammons Register; two sisters, Atheline R. Findley and Margaret R. Register; two brothers, James Harris Register, Sr. and Rudolph Candler Register.
Survivors include his wife, Vernice Davis Register of Homerville; one daughter, Rhonda R. Robbins (husband Donald) of Manor; two granddaughters, Kylee R. Brown of Manor, and Kristen R. Shirah (husband Benjie) of Atlanta; two great grandsons, Collin Brown and Nick Brown; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held Friday afternoon at 3 pm at the Homerville Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Pine Forest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday afternoon from 2 pm until 3 pm at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Homerville Freewill Baptist Church Benevolent Fund, 855 Pearson Hwy., Homerville, GA 31634.
