Betty Jean Smith Hallford, 84, of Homerville passed away Saturday (August 14, 2021) at Clinch Memorial Hospital after a short illness. She was born in Waycross to the late Bert and Eva Nettles Smith. Mrs. Hallford was a 1955 graduate of Clinch County High School. She worked at the sewing factory in Dupont and kept the fire tower in Cogdell and retired from Brockway Standard with over thirty years of service. Mrs. Hallford was of the Methodist faith. She always enjoyed crossword puzzles, coloring, and especially reading.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by three sisters, Daisy Jordan, Fonnie Ruth Braswell, and Martha Sue Smith; two brothers, Carol Smith and Hershel Smith.
Survivors include her husband, Frank Hallford, Jr. of Homerville; one daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Brett Blitch of Homerville; two grandchildren, Paxton Blitch Douglas and husband Lee of Homerville, and Chase Blitch of Homerville; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
A graveside service will be held Saturday morning at 9 am at Shiloh Cemetery.
