Mr. Angel Luis Colon, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2020, at Manatee Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, following an extended illness. Mr. Colon was born, August 7, 1940, in, Guayama, Puerto Rico, to the late Jesus Dias and Juana Colon. He was employed by Wellcraft. He was a quiet simple man who loved fishing, John Wayne, gardening, and antique cars. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tina Colon, a granddaughter, Britten Connell and the mother of his children, Betty Mullins. Survivors are his: three daughters and sons-in-law: Angel Petty of Valdosta; Yolanda and Bobby Joyce of Statenville: Deana and William Beverly of Homerville:; one son and daughter-in-law: Julio and Susan Colon of Atlanta; one step-daughter; Ruth Apperson, Valdosta; Two step-sons; Duane Smith, Statenville, Michael Smith, Lake park; one sister Amelia Colon of Puerto Rico; one brother: Carmelo Colon of Puerto Rico; 10 grandchildren: Mark A. Petty, Britten N. Connell, Hilary L. Petty, Julio L. Colon, Jr, Ember E. Colon, Braxton C. Colon, Tiffany Colon, Joshua A. Joyce, Willie and Lauren Beverly, Wyatt Beverley; Seven great grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Graveside services for Mr. Colon will be held Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 3 o’clock in Wayfare cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, July 31, 2020 from 6 till 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
