Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth McSwain Griffis, 82, passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2010, in the Clinch Memorial Hospital, Homerville, following an extended illness. Mrs. Griffis was born November 27, 1927 in Bacon County to the late Norman Elzie McSwain and Ida Lee Tucker McSwain. She had lived in Clinch County most of her life, was retired from B’ Way and was a member of the New Vision Church of God. She was the widow of Horace Clinton Griffis, Sr. and was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Jessica Parr. Survivors are three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Nell Griffis Stanko, Spartanburg, South Carolina, Marie & Sammy Parr, Fargo and Teresa & Harry Thrift, Homerville; one son and daughter-in-law, Horace Clinton “Snooky” & Laurelle Griffis, Homerville: nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and a number of other relatives. Services for Mrs. Griffis will be held Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010, at Eleven o’clock from the New Vision Church of God. Internment will be in the Pine Forest Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, August 6, 2010, from 6 till 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Griffis will be carried to the Church one hour prior to the services.
