Mrs. Mary Emma Jordan Carter, 91, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2010 in the Good Shepherd Hospice, Lakeland, FL. Mrs. Carter was born in Clinch County, March 1, 1919, to the late John J. Jordan and Annie L. Griffith Jordan. She was a retired Cafeteria worker for the School District of Hillsborough County. She was preceded in death by one step-daughter: Alice Hlozansky; eight sisters; Viola Rushing, Inez Johnson, Jeanette Jordan, Mary Frances Bennett, Louise Wilson, Annie Bell Nichelson, Carolyn Warren and Thelma Jordan; eight brothers; Oscar Jordan, John F. Jordan, Millard Jordan, Marvin Jordan, Kenneth R. Jordan, Willie Jordan, Clark Jordan and Lonnie Jordan. Survivors are five daughters: Kay Sandbrook, Lakeland, FL, Deborah Suwa, Laurel Springs, NJ, Tina Dietrich and Wilma Jean Shaw, both of Winter Haven, FL and Maxine Rhodes, Plant City, FL; two sons; Nelson Carter, Hampton FL and Stanley Carter, Ozark, AL; one step-brother: Buddy Carter, Hahira; fifteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and several other relatives. Services for Mrs. Carter will be held Thursday, June 10, 2010 at eleven o’clock from the chapel of Roundtree Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Shiloh Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 9, 2010 from 6 till 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Roundtree Funeral Home is serving the Carter Family.
