Mr. James Wilburn Bennett, 79, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2018, in the Clinch Memorial Hospital, following a brief illness. Mr. Bennett was born February 1, 1939, in Stockton GA, to the late William Oliver Bennett and Elizabeth Fender Bennett. He had worked for Jefferson-Smurfit Company as a heavy equipment operator and attended the Church of God. He loved woodworking and gardening and was preceded in death by one brother: Clyde Bennett and two sisters: Louise Warren and Mary Jane Corbitt. Survivors are his wife: Violet Marie Brinkley Bennett, Homerville; two daughters & sons-in-law; Theresa & Tom MacKean, Lake Park and Cindy & J. L. Stalvey, Homerville; three sons and daughters-in-law: James Lester & Margie Bennett, Waycross, George & Sheri Bennett, Lakeland and Charles & Emily Bennett, Edwards, IL; one sister: Maggie Gaskins, Holly Hills, FL; one brother: Cliff Bennett; Homerville, two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Donald & Louise Brinkley, Stanton, FL and Allen & Darleen Brinkley, Ocala, FL; fourteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services for Mr. Bennett will be held Friday, February 9, 2018 at eleven o’clock from the Chapel of Roundtree Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Shiloh Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018 from 6 till 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
