Mr. Gary E. Buerger, 78, passed away Thursday, September 14, 2017, in the Community Hospice Center in Jacksonville, FL, surrounded by his loving family, following an short illness. Mr. Buerger was born October 12, 1938, in Binghamton, NY, to the late Edward and Mildred Buerger Combes and step-father, David Combes. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Buerger and a special niece, Tracy Buerger Hughes. He was retired from the N.E. Florida Safety Council, as Executive Director. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving aboard the USS Saratoga. He was an avid baseball fan following his grandson from T-Ball through college and rooting for the Yankees. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Deloris Buerger, Jacksonville, daughter:Tina (Gary) Bennett, grandson, McCray Bennett and sister-in-law: Maxine McDonald all of Jacksonville, FL. Memorial services for Mr. Buerger were held Monday, September 18, 2017 at eleven o’clock from the Restoration Church, in Jacksonville, FL. Interment will be in the Wayfare Church Cemetery, October 6, 2017, at ten o’clock, with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either Restoration Church or Community Hospice.
