Homerville, GA Mrs. Connie Taylor Chewning, 74, passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2017, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family, following an extended illness. Mrs. Chewning was born February 6, 1943, in Lakeland, GA, to the late William and Alline Taylor. She was a member of Shiloh Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Fred Chewning and ten siblings. Survivors are two daughters and sons in law: Alline (Jeff)Mohler-Ocala, FL, Lisa Poole (David Ashe)-Sylva, NC; two sons and daughters in law: William (Nancy)Gilliard-Lakeland, GA, Randy (Johnnie Pat)Gilliard-Homerville, GA; one step-son and step-daughter in law: Charles Freddie (Faye)Chewning Jr.-Jacksonville, FL; one sister: Geraldine (Dale) Smith-Fargo, GA; one brother: Bennie Taylor-Homerville, GA; twenty-one grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services for Mrs. Chewning will be held Friday, September 15, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Roundtree Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Shiloh Church Cemetery. Pallbearers are her grandsons: Josh Gilliard, James Gilliard, Anthony Braswell, Chris Braswell, Chris Vinson, Ben Aldridge, and honorary pallbearer Alan Respress. The family will receive friends Thursday, September 14, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
