George Dame Peagler, Jr.

Homerville, GA Mr. George Dame Peagler, Jr., 73, passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2009, at his residence. Mr. Peagler was born August 15, 1936, in Ware County, to the late George Dame Peagler, Sr. & Grace Cameron Bell Peagler. He worked in the Timber Industry, and was a member & former trustee of the Homerville United Methodist Church, former member of the Lions Club, a graduate of The University of Georgia, a member of the Alumni Association, and an avid Georgia Bulldog Fan. Mr. Peagler is preceded in death by a sister: Mary Lula Pickren. Survivors are his wife: Gloria Dickinson Peagler, of Homerville; two daughters & sons-in-law: Pamela Peagler Abell & Jock Abell, of Columbus, GA, and Holly Ann Peagler- Maul & Joshua Maul, of Richmond Hill, GA; three sons & daughters-in-law: George Dame “Chip” III & Patty Peagler, of Alpharetta, GA, Robert & Beth Peagler, of Valdosta, GA, and David & Maria Peagler, of Jasper, GA; a sister & brother-in-law: Ann & Martin D. Gallagher, of Torrance, CA; a brother & sister-in-law: Harry Mallette “Hal” & Mary Alice Peagler, of Homerville; a brother-in-law: L. B. “Buzzy” Pickren, of St. Simons Island, GA; ten grandchildren: Thomas Abell & William Abell, both of Columbus, GA, Emily Peagler, George Dame “Chad” Peagler IIII, & Grant Peagler, all of Alpharetta, GA, Hunter Blair Peagler, Hardy Dame “Hank” Peagler & Robert Hamilton Peagler, all of Valdosta, GA, Samuel David Peagler & Zachary Edward Peagler, Jasper, GA ; & several other relatives. Services for Mr. Peagler will be held Saturday, September 26, 2009, at two o’clock, at the Homerville United Methodist Church. Internment will be in the Pine Forest Cemetery. The Family will receive friends from the Roundtree Funeral Home, Friday evening, from 6 til 8pm. Mr. Peagler will be carried to the church one hour prior to services. Roundtree Funeral Home is serving the Peagler family.
