Homerville, GA Mr. C. J. Higgs, 69, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2016, in the South Georgia Medical Center, Valdosta, GA, following a brief illness. Mr. Higgs was born July 3, 1947, in Waycross, Georgia, to Mr. Melvin Ben Higgs, Axson, GA and the late Pearlie Mae Johns Higgs. He worked as a machinist for BWay. He was a member of the Indian Mound Baptist Church and was preceded in death by two sons: Wesley Higgs and Carl Alton Stalvey. Survivors other than his father are his wife: Margaret Rigdon Higgs, Homerville; two daughters: Shannon Trusdell and Kristen Higgs, Waycross; one step daughter: Sandra Denmark, Homerville; three sisters and brothers-in-law: Sandra Faye & Travis Ursrey, Janet & Lawrence Tindell and Melvine & Donald Stevens all of Axson; one brother and sister-in-law: Bruce & Annette Higgs, Axson; three grandchildren; three step-granchhildren; two step-great grandchildren; a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services for Mr. Higgs will be held Friday, Nov. 4, 2016, at eleven a.m. at the Indian Mound Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Indian Mound Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016, from 6 to 8 at the Indian Mound Baptist Church.
