Mrs. Doris Stalvey Noble, 87, long-time resident of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones in her home in Odessa, Florida, near Tampa. She was born May 19, 1921 in Magnolia, Georgia, to the late Minnie and James Stalvey. Mrs. Noble moved to Miami following her High School graduation. She later moved to Washington D.C. where she met her husband, Ben Noble, while attending George Washington University. She helped him earn his law degree by reading to him after he was injured in a jeep accident while serving in the United States Marine Corps during WWII. She worked in the War Department and moved her family to Jacksonville where she worked as an office manager and in real estate. Throughout her life she stayed in close touch with family in Georgia; visiting during the summers while she lived in Washington, D.C. She attended the Stalvey Family Reunion each Thanksgiving. She enjoyed traveling with her family and friends, was an avid gardener, and loved football. She especially loved spending time with and cooking for her family. She was much loved and will be greatly missed as Mom by her 9 children, as Grandma by her 17 grandchildren as More-Grandma by her 7 great-grandchildren: Jim, Linda, Kevin, Kane & Chris Noble; Kathleen, George, George Jr., Jimmy, Lyla & Danielle Hranowskyj; Michaele Noble, Steve & Luke Moldof; Stephanie Noble; Diana, Joseph, Mike & Dan Thomas; Penny, John, Rebecca, Samantha & Hillary Howell; Kevin, Bonnie, Bryan & Matthew Noble, Isabelle & Jimmy Kern, John, Megan Kathryn & Sally Breedlove; Deborah Noble & Dan Moyer; Jeffrie, Jamie, Shelby & Parker Dixon; Jessie, Steve, Cody & Dillon Harris. She is survived by her brother George Stalvey, Callahan, FL, and many nieces, nephews & friends. A memorial service celebrating her life was held May 30, 2009 in Florida. Another service is scheduled Saturday, June 27, 2009, at 11am at Bethel Baptist Church Hwy 441, Homerville, GA. Her nephew, Rev. George O’Berry, will officiate. Burial will follow in Rameh Cemetery.
