Homerville, GA Mr. Lewis William Register, Sr., 89, passed away Friday, June 5, 2009, at the V.A. Medical Center of Lake City, Fl. Mr. Register was born June 21, 1919, in Clinch County, Dupont,Ga., to the late, Benjamin Stalvey Register & Mary Emma Hughes Register. He was employed by Winn Dixie as a truck driver; a member of Northside Assembly of God, of Winter Haven, Fl; and a veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII. Mr. Register was preceded in death by seven sisters: Dessie Hughes, Catherine Register, Lillie Mae McDaniel, Evelyn Weakes, Bennie Mainor, Vera Collins & Mary Stalvey; and five brothers: Jeptha Register, Earl Register, W.P. Register, J.C. Register and Woodrow Register. Survivors are his wife, Mildred June Swilley Register; three daughters: Joyce Faye Cole, of Palm Coast, Fl.; Linda Marie, of Apollo Beach, Fl; and Sheila Russell, of Lake City, Fl. Two sons are: Terry Winston Register of Palm Coast, Fl., and Lewis William “Bill” Register, Jr., of Glen St. Mary, Fl. There are thirteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren, and several other surviving relatives. Services for Mr. Register were held Monday, June 8, 2009 at five o’clock at the Roundtree Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating were family members. W.G. Smith sang Softly and Tenderly and family members sang Amazing Grace. Internment was in the North Cemetery in Dupont, Ga. Roundtree Funeral Home served the Register family
