Mrs. Avanell Melton Steedley, 93, passed away Tuesday, Apr. 26, 2016, at her residence surrounded by her loving family, following an extended illness. Mrs. Steedley was born September 18, 1922, in Clinch County to the late Israel Greene Melton and Nancy Elizabeth Deloach Melton. She had worked at the Fargo School Lunch Room for 16 years, was a homemaker, a member of the Fargo Evangelistic Church and the Church WGM Prayer Group. She was preceded in death by her husband: Farley Steedley, Sr.; one daughter: Latrelle Steedley Griffis Vinson; two sons: Henry Earl Steedley, Sr. and Farley Steedley, Jr.; two sisters: Juanita Cribbs and Bertha Douglas; and three brothers: Farris Melton, Aaron Melton and Acline Melton. Survivors are two daughters and sons-in-law: LaNell & Solomon Tolle, Homerville and Louise & Glenn McGuire, Mexia, TX; three sons & daughters-in-law: Larry & Sarah Steedley, Jennings, FL, Elmer & Mary Ann Steedley, Ailey, GA and Curtis & Judy Steedley, Jasper, FL; two sisters: Nezzie Cribbs, Fargo and Clennie Williams, Homerville; one brother: Virgil Melton, Sr., Homerville; one sister-in-law: Evelyn Melton, Homerville; 23 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, 21 great great grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives. Funeral services for Mrs. Steedley will be held Thursday, April 28, 2016 at three o'clock in the Wayfare Primitive Baptist Church, Statenville, GA. Interment will be in the Wayfare Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 27, 2016, from 6 till 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Steedley will be carried to the church one hour prior to the services.
