Fargo, GA Mr. Samuel Watson “Sammy” Parr, Jr., 70, passed away Monday, April 11, 2016, in the Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville, FL, following a short illness. Mr. Parr was born Sept. 1, 1945, in Blackshear, GA, to the late Samuel W. Parr, Sr., and Theatus Douglas Parr. He had worked as a Senior Woodsman for St. Regis and International Paper Companies. He was a Baptist by faith and was preceded in death by many precious sisters and brothers. Survivors are his wife: Marie Griffis Parr, Fargo; two daughters and son-in-law: Ava & Bill Hendricks, Homerville and Beth Gray, Homerville; one son and daughter-in-law: Sammy “Porky” & Melissa Parr, III, Homerville; four sisters & brothers-in-law: Brunell & David Zeigler, Rincon, GA; Shelby Jean & Kenneth Petty, Crosby, MS, Dorothy Wright, Jacksonville, FL and Roslyn Neeley, Chattahoochee, FL; two brothers & sister-in-law: Billy Ray & Mildred Parr, Needmore, GA and Mack Parr, Jasper, FL; a special sister-in-law: Teresa Thrift, Homerville; seven grandchildren: Brooke Harper, Jaimie Harper, Joseph Gray, Gene Gray, Bill Hendricks, Kelsey Gaskins and John Gray; one great grandchild: Rayce Metts; a number of nieces & nephews and other relatives. Funeral services for Mr. Parr will be held Thursday, Apr. 14, 2016, at eleven o’clock in the Cornerstone Baptist Church Interment will be in the Pine Forest Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, Apr. 13, 2016, from 6 till 8 p.m. at the Cornerstone Baptist Church.
