Homerville, GA Mr. Ray Tomlinson, 87, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at the South Georgia Medical Center. Mr. Tomlinson was born May 2, 1922, in Clinch County, to the late James Tomlinson, Sr. & Agnes Eva Dame Tomlinson. He was retired from Brockway Standard as Personnel Manager, a member of the First Baptist Church, Mason, retired from the Elections Board, Bailiff for Clinch County Superior Court, Past Hospital administrator, Past Clerk of Court, YFW, he was the Hearse Driver for Roundtree Funeral Home for 20 Years, a Honorary Member of the Exchange Club, and a Veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard 42-45 during WWII. He loved his family, people, and working in the yard. Mr. Tomlinson was preceded in death by two sisters: Ruth Parker & Louise Mathis; one brother: James Tomlinson, Jr. Survivors are his wife: Sybil Jane Tomlinson, of Homerville; a daughter: Janice Tomlinson Griffis, of Homerville; a son & daughter-in-law: Ray & Betty Tomlinson, Jr., of Sana Roas Shore, FL; three grandchildren: Jonathon & Julie Tomlinson, of Belle Chasse, FL, Kayla Griffis, of Homerville, and Matt & Marli Swensen, of Lavelle, FL; six great-grandchildren: Olivia & Isabella Tomlinson, Braxtyn & Aliyah Smith, and Matthew & Maci Swensen; and several other relatives. Services for Mr. Tomlinson will be held Saturday, May 9, 2009 at two o’clock from the First Baptist Church. Internment will be in the Arabia Cemetery. The family will receive friends from the Roundtree Funeral Home, Friday May 8, 2009, from 6 til 9. Mr. Tomlinson will be carried to the church one hour prior to services.
