Mickey Petty, Sr.

Michael Leighton Petty, Sr., “Mickey,” 71, of Crosby, MS passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center inJackson, MS, after a long battle with cancer. Mickey was born March 6, 1944 in Homerville, GA, the son of Zeke and Rocky Steedley Petty. He was a Vietnam Veteran and retired from the US Army National Guard and United States Postal Service. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed his grandchildren and sitting outside on his porch drinking coffee and visiting with his friends. Mickey was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Felton Petty and his nephew Deron Petty. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lois McGhee Petty. 1 Daughter, Angela Petty Mize and husband, Danny of Paducah, KY. 1 Son, Michael Leighton Petty, Jr. and wife Stephanie of Natchez, MS. 4 Grandchildren, Alyssa Mize, Danny Michael Mize, Jr., Jordan Petty and Matt Petty. 1 Brother, Kenneth Petty and wife, Shelby Jean of Crosby. 2 Sisters, Mavis Trowell of Homerville, GA, and Linda Combass and husband, Lamar of Jennings, FL. Also survived by Numerous Nieces and Nephews. Visiting at Brown Funeral Home in Gloster, MS, Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Visiting at Roundtree Funeral Home in Homerville, GA, Monday, Feb. 8, 2016,6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Graveside Services are Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Wayfare Cemetery in Echols County, GA.
