Waycross, GA Mr. Johnny Devoy Martin, Sr., 85, passed away Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Martin was born Oct. 1, 1930, in Manor, GA, to the late Joseph Daniel “Joe” Martin and Ruth Steedley Martin. He was a self-employed painter and logger and was a member of the Suwanee Chapel Church of God of Prophecy, Manor, GA. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: William Samuel & Liza Jane Martin; his maternal grandparents: William “Billy” & Annie Steedley; three sisters: Edith Martin, Shirley F. Martin and Juanita “Nita” Martin; two brothers: William Henry Martin and Ralph Martin; his first wife: Ann McCar Martin; second wife: Mildred Mixon Martin; his lifelong companion and love of his life: Vera Juanita “Kute” Kight Ewry. Survivors are three daughters: Kimberly Fanning, Douglas, Donna K. Martin, Waycross and Bonna F. Martin Gillard, Adel; two sons: Joseph D. “Jody” Martin, and Devoy Johnny “Rusty” Martin, Jr., both of Waycross; one step-daughter: Glenda Tyre, Oklahoma; niece: Bobby Jean Musgrove, Axson; two sisters: Vernell Dowling Olustee, FL and Thelma Ruth Holt, Milan, IN; one brother: Horace Martin, Manor, GA; four grandchildren: Victoria Harris, Martin Todd, Nicole Lide and Rachel Tanner; two great grandchildren: Chloe Alexis Todd and Kalen Wood, a number of nieces & nephews and other relatives. Graveside services for Mr. Martin will be held Monday, Jan. 25, 2016, at five o’clock in the Shiloh Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016, from 6 till 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences to the family may be conveyed at the online registry at www.roundtreefuneralhome.net.
