Huntsville, AL Mrs. Myrtle Braswell Broome, 72, passed away Friday, Sept. 4, 2015, in the Huntsville Hospital, Huntsville, AL, surrounded by her loving family, following an extended illness. Mrs. Broome was born Feb. 4, 1943, in Richmond County, GA to the late Bonnie Cubbage Braswell and Lena Adeline Blackwell Braswell. Mrs. Broome was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She loved cooking, music & singing, search & find crossword puzzles and helping her family. She was so giving and loving to everyone she met and all who knew her called her “Granny”. She was a retired seamstress and was preceded in death by her husband: Charles Broome and several sisters and brothers. Survivors are four daughters: Telesa Allen, Lynn Gayton and Shirley Young all of Tignall, GA and Sonya Gouge, Ozark, AL; one son: Daniel C. Merritt, Jr., Huntsville, AL; three sisters: Betty Ansley, Bonneville, GA, Madeline Adams, Pearson, GA, and Bonnie Sue Adams, Cogdell, GA; sister-in-law: Iris Braswell, Cogdell, GA; 15 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Funeral services for Mrs. Broome will be held Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015, at ten o’clock in the Indian Mound Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Pine Forest Cemetery. The family will receive friends, Friday, Sept. 11, 2015, from 6 til 8 p.m. at Indian Mound Missionary Baptist Church.
