Homerville, GA Mr. John Roy Mercer, 68, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family, following an extended illness. Mr. Mercer was born Sept. 20, 1946, in Waycross, GA to the late Roy Mercer and Ruby Rowland Mercer. He was a self-employed painter and was preceded in death by two sons: John Wayne Mercer & Bennie Ray Mercer. Survivors are his wife: Linda Lou Cox Mercer, Homerville; four daughters & sons-in-law; Telisa Kay & James Steedley, Argyle, Ruby Renee & John Harper, Nashville, Tammy Lavon & Paul Pittman, Homerville and Johnnie Lynn & Johnny Clements, Nashville; one brother: Jerry Wayne Mercer, Waycross; 20 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Funeral services for Mr. Mercer will be held Friday, July 24, 2015, at eleven o’clock in the Camp Branch Church of God of Prophecy. Interment will be in the Camp Branch Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends, Thursday July 23, 2015, from 6 til 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Mercer will be carried to the church one hour prior to the services.
