Mrs. Alva Lee Giddens Register, 86, passed away peacefully at her home in DuPont on July 7, 2015. Mrs. Register was born January 11, 1929 to the late Kyler Giddens and Maude Thompson Giddens of Lakeland, GA. She was a graduate of the Lanier County High School Class of 1946. For almost 62 years, Mrs. Register was the devoted wife of Herbert E. Register, who preceded her in death in 2010. Mrs. Register was the loving mother of five children, Herbert P. (Phil) Register, Phyllis A. Register, Martin D. Register, John A. Register, and Carla Register Mabrey. Survivors include her two daughters and a son-in-law, Phyllis A. Register of DuPont, and Carla R. and John Mabrey of Atlanta; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Phil and Martin D. Register, both of DuPont, and John A. and Amy Register of Auburn, AL; seven grandchildren, Dillon Mabrey, Kenzie Mabrey, McKenna Johnson, Tessa Register, and Catherine Johnson, all from Atlanta, and Kyler Register and Langford Register who live in Auburn, AL; her sister, Lois Giddens Zittrauer of Waycross; special caregivers Sharon Back and Tiffany Friar, and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held at Roundtree Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, July 9, 2015 from 6 til 8 p.m. Mrs. Register’s Homegoing Service will follow at the Roundtree Chapel on Friday, July 10, 2015 at 2 p.m. Sympathy may also be expressed by signing the online registry at www.roundtreefuneralhome.com. Interment will immediately follow at the North Cemetery near DuPont. In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Register’s family asks that donations be made to the Georgia Chapter for the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org/georgia.
