Homerville, GA Mrs. Pearlena Gatewood Steedley, 82 passed away Saturday, January 24, 2009, in the Ogeechee Area Hospice, Statesboro, GA. Mrs. Steedley was born Dec. 12, 1926 in Grapeland, FL to the late Wade Gatewood and Pearl Murchison Gatewood. She was a member of the Homerville First Baptist Church, and was the retired owner of Jimbo’s Log Kitchen. She was preceded in death by her first husband: James Earl Steedley and second husband: Leroy Tanner; two brothers: Wade Gatewood, Jr. and Bob Chappell. Survivors are one daughter and son-in-law: Janet & James McGhin, Statesboro, GA; one son and daughter-in-law: Mark & Kitty Steedley, Homerville; two step-daughters and step sons-in-law: Wanda & Roger Taft, Pearson, and Karen & Johnny Bohannon, Axson; one brother and sister-in-law: John & Connie Chappell, Baytown, TX; four grandchildren Jared & Jennifer McGhin, Savannah, Ryan & Tifanny McGhin, Statesboro, Kelsey Steedley & Cason Steedley, both of Homerville, three step grandchildren: Matthew Taft, Daniel Taft and Andrew Taft all of Pearson and several other relatives. Services for Mrs. Steedley will be held Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009 at three o’clock from the Homerville First Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Pine Forest Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday night from 6 till 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Steedley will be carried to the church one hour prior to the services.
